Faith, Recovery & Community: The Rise Above Soars Story
There's a verse that sits at the heart of everything Rise Above Soars does. Isaiah 40:31: "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles."
It's not just a name. It's a promise — and a framework for how we serve.
Where Faith and Action Meet
Faith without action is incomplete. That's a conviction that shapes every program, every partnership, and every conversation at Rise Above Soars. We believe deeply in the spiritual dimension of recovery — that lasting change is rooted in hope, and that hope is most powerful when it's grounded in something bigger than circumstance.
But we also believe that faith shows up in practical ways. In a warm bed. In a job interview. In a mentor who picks up the phone at 10pm. In a church that opens its doors to someone society has written off.
The Three Pillars of Our Work
Reentry & Recovery: For men and women returning from incarceration, the first 90 days are critical. We provide transitional housing, life skills training, employment support, and mentorship during that window — and beyond.
Homelessness Support: Homelessness and incarceration are deeply connected. Our programs meet people where they are — with dignity, practical resources, and a pathway toward stability.
Faith-Based Shelter Network: We believe the local church is one of the most powerful forces for community transformation. Our network connects Dallas-area congregations with the resources and training they need to serve their most vulnerable neighbors.
Why Community Is the Missing Piece
Recovery research consistently points to one factor above all others: connection. People who have strong social support — people who feel like they belong somewhere — are far more likely to sustain long-term change.
That's why Rise Above Soars isn't just a service provider. We're a community. Our participants don't just receive help — they become part of something. They find mentors who become friends. They find churches that become family. They find a version of themselves they didn't know was possible.
Dallas Churches: You Have a Role to Play
One of the most exciting parts of our work is the Faith-Based Shelter Network. Dallas is home to hundreds of churches — many of them eager to serve their communities in meaningful ways, but unsure where to start. Rise Above Soars bridges that gap.
Join the Mission
Rise Above Soars is growing — and we need Dallas behind us. Whether you're an individual who wants to volunteer, a donor who wants to fund the work, or a church that wants to partner, there's a place for you in this mission.
Because when one person rises, the whole community rises with them.
